Codetroller is an experimental project co-founded by musicians and sound artists Lina Bautista and Mauricio Iregui. As trained musicians interested in technologies, their project is based on the implementation of live coding in the context of live instrumental music, improvisation, and field recording adventures. Codetroller takes advantage of simple programming in Max/MSP and Pure Data to process acoustic signals and generate complex layers of soundscapes, beats, and vocals. Continuous data is sent from one computer to another so that each performer can generate changes in the other’s environment and synch processes and temporal events. When Codetroller is not performing in a live concert they are coding in places like buses, trains and restaurants where they utilize the sound richness of the spaces as raw materials for their compositions.
